What is your relationship with casual nudity?
Chris KleinI’ve always enjoyed being naked — I will walk around my house naked, sleep naked, clean naked. It’s just a comfortable concept for me and luckily, my partner too!
Can you tell the audience a bit about your project?
Chris KleinI’ve loved photography since I can remember. I have always been fascinated with the male form. Tasty Smut began as an idea — I wanted to showcase raw primal beauty in nature. My end goal is a coffee table book. As I began shooting, I didn’t have a particular body type in mind. As I shot more and more, the concept morphed to showcase confidence, beauty, and even vulnerability in nature. When I named the project Tasty Smut, I wanted a name that was somewhat jarring and memorable.
How do you choose and find your models?
Chris KleinIt began with friends, which turned into a word of mouth approach. I have used Instagram to reach out to guys I’d like to work with and I’ve even resorted to Scruff and Grindr.
I know plenty of artists who get their work from Scruff and Grindr. What’s the shoot day like?
Chris KleinGenerally, I meet the model at the shoot location, we meander into the woods and I always start by shooting them undress, carefully guiding and assisting with poses. I love to use crisp white or grey briefs so I have them get into those right away.
Every model is different and everyone interprets my direction in a different way. What works for one model won’t always work for another, so I try to pose according to what looks and feels comfortable for the model.
An important thing to remember is that I’m open to a more explicit approach to photos. I’ve learned some guys get very excited by having their photos taken and I just roll with it, resulting in some truly tasty smut.

In your opinion, why is being naked in the woods so great?
Chris KleinIt feels so primal and almost cathartic. I will take my shoes off and shoot barefoot if the location allows for it. There is just something so magical about the woods — it’s calming and grounding and I think being secluded in nature does wonders for the model’s confidence.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Chris KleinWhile I’m open to shooting anyone, the Tasty Smut concept has only featured queer models. This sort of became the way I like this project to operate. I have had numerous women reach out for themselves and their husbands requesting shoots and I plan to start booking those through the fall — I just want this particular project to remain queer focused.
